Animal Disease Control Section
(formerly Immunization and Disease Control Section)
Provide technical assistance (e.g. provision of emergency vaccines, antibiotics, dewormers, Personal Protective Equipment and disinfectants) to RFOs and LGUs to control animal disease outbreaks.
Develop programs and project proposals for the prevention, control and eradication of priority animal diseases and zoonoses.
Develop and prescribe standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for animal disease control.
Veterinary Epidemiology Section
(formerly Disease Intelligence and Epidemiology Section)
Develop and implement surveillance systems for the early detection and warning of local and foreign animal diseases.
Lead in the conduct of animal disease outbreak and other epidemiological investigations.
Plan and organize epidemiological studies as bases for sound animal health programs.
Animal Facilities Regulation Section
Undertake the registration and licensing of pet shops, kennels, veterinary clinics/hospitals, stockyards, corrals, stud farms, zoos, and other facilities utilized for breeding, maintaining, keeping, treating, trading or training animals.
Establish an inspection and monitoring system to ensure effective implementation of R.A. 8485 (Animal Welfare Act).
Accredit breeder farms, swine centers and providers, and animal technicians in accordance with Good Animal Husbandry Practices (GAHP).
Recommend to the BAI Director the suspension/cancellation of the registration/license of erring animal facilities.
Animal Information and Advocacy Services Section
Develop and produce information, education and communication (IEC) materials for animal health and welfare programs.
Conduct extension support, education and trainings, consultative meetings and conferences on matters related to animal health and welfare development for RFO/LGU personnel and other stakeholders.
Develop and maintain various breed registry databases and animal identification/traceability systems.
